NCRHA National Championship - Wednesday Recap
April 20th, 2023 at 10:42AM April 20th, 2023 3:45PMIt was a great Day 1 back in California for the NCRHA National Championship. Wednesday brought us 30 action packed games across three divisions. Here's a summary of the day's events:
Division III kicked off the event, Colorado and Florida Gulf Coast teams had a close game, with Florida Gulf Coast ultimately taking the win in overtime with a score of 6-5. Quinnipiac defeated RIT with a score of 5-2, Neumann won against Hofstra with a score of 7-4, Florida beat San Jose State 8-2, Rhode Island and Vermont had a tight game that went into overtime, with Vermont ultimately winning 6-5, and Colorado State won against Cal Poly Pomona with a score of 13-8. Boston narrowly won against UC Santa Barbara with a score of 7-6, and Oswego defeated Missouri S&T with a score of 6-3.
In Division II, Arizona won against Northeastern in overtime with a score of 6-5, Cortland defeated CSU Fullerton with a score of 10-5, Robert Morris won against Cal Poly with a score of 6-4, and Temple defeated Tampa in overtime with a score of 5-4.
In Division I, Arizona State won against Henry Ford College with a score of 4-3, Lindenwood defeated Grand Canyon University with a score of 9-2, and Slippery Rock lost to Rowan with a score of 5-4.
In the evening games, Quinnipiac beat Florida Gulf Coast with a score of 7-1, Colorado won against RIT with a score of 7-2, Maryville won against Vermont with a score of 10-4, and Neumann defeated San Jose State with a score of 19-3. Endicott defeated Tampa with a score of 11-9, and Maryville won against Colorado State with a score of 10-6.
There were also some exciting overtime games, with Farmingdale beating Bethel in a shootout 5-4, and Ohio State beating Cortland 6-5 in thanks to Brad Ryniawec’s overtime goal.
