NCRHA Cross-Divisional Matchup of the Week

Henry Ford College (JC) vs. Bethel University (DI)

Saturday, November 19, 2022 – 7:00pm

Season Head to Head prior to this weekend: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season

Season Head to Head after this weekend: Bethel leads season series 1-0 with a 7-2 win over Henry Ford this weekend

In their first true test this season, Henry Ford faced Division I Bethel in their 2nd game of the weekend. Bethel came in with a 2-4 record, looking to improve their record in games against Ohio State (D2), Michigan State (D2), Henry Ford (JC) and Lindenwood. The teams were feeling each other out and not taking too many chances until midway in the 1st period when Bethel got on the board first, capitalizing on a 3-on-2. The rest of the 1st period featured outnumbered attacks both ways and was highlighted by exceptional saves by Henry Ford goaltender Carter Pattenaude. Bethel’s 2nd goal was another outnumbered attack, this time a 2-on-1, capitalizing on a Henry Ford turnover. Bethel scored the first 2 goals of the 2nd period, the first being a breakaway goal by Zach Hoffman. Hoffman would score 2 in the game, as well as Jason Santoriello (2 G) and Dylan Sullivan (2 G, 3 A) who made some outstanding dishes on his teammates’ goals. Henry Ford’s Dustin Foran and Spencer Morrison netted goals in the contest, which was really a 5-2 game until the last 2 goals came in in the last 2 minutes with an exhausted Henry Ford squad. Bethel’s Kyle Wedbush stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced, and Henry Ford’s Carter Pattenaude stopped 32 of 39.

Henry Ford came into the weekend 4-0, without any real tests at that point. They were surely tested this weekend, with 2 games against Lindenwood D1 (2 losses), Bethel (7-2 loss), Lindenwood Gold (3-2 loss) and Lindenwood Black (7-0 win).

Bethel had a successful weekend at their home event at Bethel Wildcat Arena, going 3-1 with wins against Ohio State (D2) 11-2, Henry Ford (JC) 7-2, Michigan State (D2) 9-0, and their 1 loss to Lindenwood by a score of 5-2. Even in the 5-2 loss to Lindenwood, they kept the game within reach throughout, never trailing by more than 2 goals and spending almost 2/3 of the game tied or down by just 1 goal.
