Wednesday, April 2nd: A Day Full of Thrilling Hockey Action

The 2025 National Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships is underway! From the first puck drop at 7am Wednesday morning, fans were treated to heart-pounding games that kept them on the edge of their seats. Here’s a recap of the key moments from the day.

Morning Matchups:

The action kicked off bright and early, with Kennesaw State overcoming Oswego with a 6-3 win, while Rhode Island edged out Illinois State in a tight 2-1 battle. The morning continued with more high-energy clashes as Florida defeated UT-Chattanooga 6-5 in a shootout, and Massachusetts took down RIT 5-3.

At 9:00 AM, Maryville handled Yeshiva 5-2, and Hofstra narrowly escaped Purdue with a 7-6 victory. The action didn’t slow down as Penn State cruised to an 8-5 win over Cal Poly Pomona.. Meanwhile, Slippery Rock shut out Ohio State 4-0 in a dominant performance.

Afternoon Thrills:

The afternoon saw even more closely contested battles. Robert Morris edged out Farmingdale 4-3, while Tampa demolished Loyola Marymount University 10-0. The excitement continued with Neumann overcoming CSU Fullerton 5-3, and Stony Brook defeating Temple 4-3 in overtime.

In a back-and-forth battle, Michigan State narrowly defeated Cortland 7-6, and Cal Poly triumphed over Quinnipiac 7-6 as well. Northeastern proved too strong for Boston, winning 4-0. Endicott triumphed over Robert Morris 4-3 in a shootout.

Evening Drama:

As the evening wore on, fans were treated to more thrilling action. Lindenwood defeated Rowan 3-1, and Colorado defeated Florida Gulf Coast 8-3. Another shootout ending featured Arizona State edging out Henry Ford College 3-2.

Massachusetts made a statement with an 8-3 victory over Vermont, while Grand Canyon University dominated Arizona 8-1. The night got even more dramatic when Kennesaw State fell to Yeshiva 4-3. Florida took down Penn State 5-4 in another thriller, and Maryville triumphed 4-3 over Oswego in overtime.

Tampa delivered another strong performance, defeating Illinois State 10-4, but it was the late-night games that truly kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Late-Night Overtime Drama:

As the clock ticked into the late hours, the excitement continued. Cal Poly edged out Endicott 3-2 in overtime, while Farmingdale triumphed over Quinnipiac 10-7. CSU Fullerton bested Cortland 4-3 in overtime.

The night ended with more intense finishes, as Rhode Island took down Loyola Marymount University 4-3 in a shootout. UT-Chattanooga defeated Cal Poly Pomona, and Slippery Rock held off Northeastern 5-2.

In the final games of the night, Hofstra routed Vermont 12-4 and Ohio State narrowly defeated Boston 3-2, while Purdue triumphed over RIT 12-6 in the nightcap.
